On May 1, 1947  Evelyn McHale leapt to her death from the observation deck of the Empire State Building. She had landed supine on a parked limousine and came to rest in an attitude that suggested peaceful sleep. The photo is often referred to as “The most beautiful suicide” .

Yay, Jim! [via]

I honestly thought Jim Parsons was already out, because I had known this for years. Isn’t it strange that famous people have two closets to come out of—the one that they come out of when they only tell those in their personal lives, like their families and friends and lovers and colleagues (a friend of mine knew Parsons in college), and the other in which they have to consider how it would affect their career, to have perfect strangers to whom it makes no real difference either way because there will never be any interaction whatsoever? That is weird. I’ll say that before I make note that this newsy revelation was on the third page of the New York Times profile of Parsons that ran today. So, just pay attention to the dichotomies there.

I too thought this was already well known fact.
